Senior Bowl roster's dotted with intriguing figures

Every year, the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama has some intriguing figures, and football players who end up as first-round draft picks too, and this year seems to be no different.

MOBILE, Ala. — Every year, the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama has some intriguing figures, and football players who end up as first-round draft picks too, and this year seems to be no different. 

One season ago, for example, 84 of the 256 players drafted or 32.8 percent of the draft picks were in Mobile for Senior Bowl week. Among those were seven first rounders, including Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald from Pitt, Zack Martin the outstanding offensive lineman of the Dallas Cowboys from Notre Dame,  and Auburn defensive end Dee Ford who went to Kansas City.

The 2013 Senior Bowl was even better with 94 players drafted and ten first round picks that included the NFL’s number one offensive tackle Eric Fisher of the Kansas City Chiefs.

This year, there are plenty of potential first rounders including Oregon tackle Jake Fisher, Pitt tackle T.J. Clemmings , LSU offensive tackle La’El Collins and Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah.
