CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman fended off five men who tried to rob her at an ATM in Charlotte, North Carolina, early Wednesday, shooting one of the assailants, police said.
Police said a woman was in her car at a Wells Fargo ATM at 2:30 a.m. when five men tried to rob her, WSOC-TV reported.
Police said a 17-year-old boy called 911 to say he had been shot. Officers found him behind a church next to the ATM, the television station reported.
The boy was taken to the hospital in serious condition, police said.
Authorities are investigating to determine if the shooting was justified, WSOC reported.
