GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. — Green Cove Springs Junior High continued a years-long tradition Friday by hosting a naturalization ceremony for aspiring American citizens.
50 people were able to take their Oath of Allegiance Friday.

The school partnered with the U.S. District Court and USCIS to bring the event inside the school auditorium and in view of local children.
Some even got to participate in the ceremony itself, with student leaders bearing the flags.
The citizenship candidates participating in the ceremony range in age from 20 to 70 and originate from the following 29 countries: Albania, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bermuda, Bolivia, Brazil, Burma, Canada, China, Colombia, Cuba, Egypt, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Philippines, Portugal, Russia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Vietnam.

This was the third year of the unique civics lesson at Green Cove Springs Junior High.
Clay County District Schools called it a “powerful demonstration of the American dream.”
