Traffic alerts from the Buckman Bridge to I-95 and I-10

Multi-Lane Closure and Traffic Shift on Northbound Buckman Bridge

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Beginning on Friday, Sept. 30 from 10 p.m. through Monday, Oct. 3, drivers heading northbound on Interstate 295 over the Buchman Bridge will see multilane closures. Crews will be restriping and returning lanes to their final configuration.

The northbound lanes of the Buckman Bridge will be closed in the following order:

  • Two outside lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30 through Saturday, Oct. 1 at 9:30 a.m.
  • One outside lane will be closed from 9:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1.
  • Two outside lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1.
  • Three outside lanes will be closed from 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 until 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2.
  • Two inside lanes will be closed from 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2 until Monday, Oct. 3 at 4 a.m.

Motorists are being warned to plan ahead, expect delays and to use caution when traveling northbound over the bridge.

The $10.5 million project is expected to be completed by the end of 2022. Programmable overhead electronic boards and additional cameras will be installed at several locations, in both directions of the bridge.

Interstate 10 and Interstate 95 interchange improvements

Multiple overnight detours around Interstate 10 and Interstate 95 will begin next week.

I-95 south detour

Monday, Sept. 26 through Thursday, Sept. 29 from 10:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. and Friday, Sept. 30 from 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., drivers on I-95 south will be detoured to the Forest Street exit, left on Forest Street and left on Riverside Avenue to the Acosta Bridge to rejoin I-95 southbound.

I-95 north to I-10 west flyover

Monday, Sept. 26 through Thursday, Sept. 29 from 10:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. and Friday, Sept. 30 from 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., drivers on I-95 north who wish to take I-10 west will be detoured to the Park Street exit. At the bottom of the ramp, drivers will turn right on Park Street, left on Forest Street, left on Edison Avenue, left on Stockton Street and left on Irene Street to access the I-10 west ramp.

I-10 east detour

Wednesday, Sept. 28 from 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., drivers on I-10 east who want to travel on I-95 south will be detoured north to the Union Street exit, right on Jefferson Street to connect with the Acosta Bridge and rejoin I-95 southbound.

FDOT has said that the improvement project will cost $126 million to complete and that it’s expected to finish in the fall of 2022.
