Pedestrian killed in Putnam County crash

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — UPDATE, 8:35 AM : A 41-year-old Jacksonville man is dead after he was hit by a car Wednesday morning on State Road 20 in Palatka. The wreck occurred at about 3:25 a.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

A white sedan driven by a 30-year-old Green Cove Springs woman was traveling eastbound on SR 20 when the man ran across the eastbound lanes, the news release states. The front bumper of the sedan struck him.

The two occupants of the car were treated for minor injuries.

SR 20 was shutdown Wednesday morning following a fatal crash involving a pedestrian, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said at about 5:20 a.m. Both eastbound lanes are closed at Nine Mile due to the crash.

“Please use alternate route and allow extra time if travelling from Interlachen toward Palatka as this will be closed for several hours,” the sheriff’s office said.
