The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) responded to the crash scene Saturday.

The FAA said the plane was a Piper PA-32R, and the cause of the crash is still unknown.

The plane departed from Clearwater Airpark and was headed to Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport, the FAA said.

All roads in the area that were closed during the investigation have since reopened.
