Man dies after crashing into back of dump truck in Jacksonville’s Englewood neighborhood

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a man in his 80s died Wednesday morning after crashing into the back of a dump truck.

The incident happened in the 3600 block of Spring Park Road.

JSO said it responded to a crash around 6:54 a.m. Wednesday.

When they got there, investigators said they saw a crash involving a dump truck and a white SUV.

Investigators say the dump truck was driving north on Spring Park Road and stopped in the road.

The white SUV was also driving north on Spring Park Road directly behind the dump truck.

JSO said the white SUV did not stop when the dump truck stopped and rear-ended the back of it.

Investigators say they do not believe the man driving the white SUV had his seatbelt on.

JSO said the man was transported to a local hospital, where he was declared dead.

The JSO Traffic Homicide Unit is conducting an investigation.

Spring Park Road in the 3600 block was closed in both directions during the investigation.

This is the 154th traffic fatality in Duval County for 2025.
