UPDATE 8:40 p.m.: A 60-year-old man is dead after a deadly crash at the intersection of Jones Rd. and Garden St., according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).
According to the report from JSO, the man and a woman in her 50s were riding a motorcycle eastbound on Garden St.
The front of the motorcycle collided with the passenger’s side of a mid-sized Chevrolet SUV as it was traveling westbound on Garden St.
The SUV pulled into the path of the motorcyclist as it made a left turn onto southbound Jones Road.
The driver of the motorcycle and the passenger were thrown from the motorcycle as a result of the impact with the SUV.
The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, and the woman passenger was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the SUV was a 50-year-old woman.
Jones Rd at Garden St. will be shut down for another hour while investigators collect evidence and map the crash scene.
