Jacksonville police: 1 killed, 1 injured in shooting on Atlantic Blvd. near St. Johns Bluff Rd.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — One man was killed and another was injured in a shooting on Atlantic Boulevard near St. Johns Bluff Road on Wednesday afternoon, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

JSO received several 911 calls about a shooting near the BP gas station located at 10675 Atlantic Boulevard, JSO Sgt. Steve Rudlaff said.

When patrol officers arrived, they found two men, both in their 20s, had been shot, Rudlaff said.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, and the other man was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Rudlaff said at this point, the shooting doesn’t appear to be gang-related, but investigators are still looking into possible motives.

Rudlaff said investigators found a gun on the ground and a couple of casings on the ground that didn’t match each other, “so we do know that there is at least multiple guns involved.”

People responded to the scene of the shooting, saying they were family members of the victims. Rudlaff said there have been “issues” with some of those people and they have been detained.

Rudlaff said no one has been detained in relation to the actual shooting.
