JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 8:17 P.M.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has provided the following updates regarding the incident on I-95 Southbound from earlier this evening.

According to JSO, an off-duty officer, Lt. Mark Crawford, was involved in a collision with a truck driver, a 70-year-old, on the road. JSO states they had ‘come in contact’ possibly more than once. Crawford then exited and shot at the vehicle multiple times.

Crawford was reportedly hurt in the shoulder, however JSO is still working to find the cause of the injuries. No other injuries have been reported at this time.

The driver of the other vehicle has been detained and marked not as a suspect, and there is no current word on if the off-duty officer will be placed on leave.

This marks the second officer-involved shooting in 2025 from JSO, however, this is Crawford’s fourth officer-involved shooting.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call JSO at 904-630-0500, email, JSOCRIMETIPS@Jaxsheriff.org or contact Crimestoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
