4 shot, 1 killed in interstate shooting in Jacksonville

Shooting shuts down part of highway A shooting investigation by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has resulted in lane closures on I-95 South and I-10.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 6:30 a.m. - Action News Jax has learned about a shooting that happened Thursday night in the area of the I-10/I-95 split.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was called to the area around 7:45 p.m. after a woman called 911 saying she’d been shot.

When officers arrived, they found four victims: the woman and three men. One of the men died at a local hospital.

The surviving victims told investigators that someone inside a dark-colored vehicle shot at them while they were driving eastbound on I-10. They’re still working to learn the relationship between the gunman and the victims, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

ORIGINAL STORY - The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that has shut down a section of highway just west of the Fuller Warren Bridge.

An alert from JSO just before 10 pm detailed the traffic impacts:

“Traffic is shut down at I-10 / I-95 split on the I-95 south and downtown exit side. From the I-10 exit onto I-95 south to the I-95 NB exit to Forest St. The I-10 merger onto I-95 NB that bypasses the Forest St, Monroe St, and Forsyth St exits is still open.”

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department confirmed that three people were transported from the area with life-threatening injuries.
