Officials said the agency responded to a reported home explosion on Sycamore Way. The home was left bulging outwards in several places, including the garage.
Crews reportedly took two adults and two children to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Fire officials and neighbors nearby told us the explosion happened around 7:30 P.M.
“The smoke just kept getting bigger and bigger,” said one man.
We’re told the home is structurally unsound, meaning no one will be able to go inside due to a risk of collapse.
While the cause is still under investigation, CCFR said it appears to have been a gas explosion.
Fire officials told Action News Jax the homes in the area have gas and CO2 detectors, but none of them went off before the explosion.
Neighbors are asked to make sure their detectors are working to prevent anything similar from happening.
