UPDATE: One person killed in plane incident at Keystone Airpark

BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. — UPDATE 1:46 P.M., According to a new statement from FHP, the crash happened around 11 a.m. at 7150 Airport Road in Starke.

The pilot, a 46-year-old man from St. Augustine, was killed in the crash. He was the only person on the plane, FHP says.

Investigators say it’s still unclear what caused the single-engine plane to go down.

A small fire broke out at Keystone Heights Airpark early Saturday, prompting a swift response from local firefighters.

Bradford County Fire Rescue crews rushed to the scene after reports of an aircraft emergency at the airfield.

The Florida Highway Patrol said there was a fatality, reporting it around 11 a.m.

Firefighters worked quickly to put out the flames.

By 11:15 a.m., officials confirmed the fire was fully extinguished.

Bradford County Fire Rescue says the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have been notified and will be investigating the incident.
