TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz, Jr. announced today the chosen books for the Commissioner’s Book of the Month.

The Commissioner’s Book of the Month, a monthly reading challenge that promotes literacy and reading engagement in pre-K-12 schools, chose books to reflect the holiday season.

The chosen books, broken down by grade, are as follows:

  • PreK - The Berenstain Bears Christmas Tree by Stan and Jan Berenstain
  • K-2 - How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss
  • 3-5 - The 9 Candles of Hanukkah Tell the Tale by Noah Press
  • 6-8 - The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson
  • 9-12 - The Nativity by Henry Vaughan

The holidays are a time for families to be together and create memories that last a lifetime,” said Commissioner Manny Diaz, Jr. “I encourage families to spend time with their loved ones this season and create new holiday memories by reading these timeless tales.”
