JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — This week marked nine years since 22-year-old Jerry Brown was shot in a driveway in the Grand Park area.
No arrests were ever made in connection to his murder. Now, his family fears this cold case is now “frozen”.
“He really was an angel. We look back and say God did put an angel on this earth for us to experience, not just for us to love but for him to spread his love for 22 years,” said Chevie Green, Jerry Brown’s cousin.

Chevie Green wants answers and justice.
Her cousin, Jerry Brown, was shot in the neck in a family member’s driveway on January 28th, 2016.
He did not survive.

“It’s hard to know he was right there in his aunt’s driveway where so much of his help came from, but yet he couldn’t ask for her help, or she couldn’t save him.”
Green told Action News Jax that the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office originally investigated his murder as a gang-related drive-by. However, she said Brown had nothing to do with gangs. She said he was a gospel singer who spent most of his time singing in churches.
“Even the detective and officers were in tears because he didn’t deserve this. They knew that he was not one of those.”
Chevie Green said Brown’s mother died six months after her son’s murder from breast cancer and possibly a broken heart.
JSO said this case is still under investigation, but family believes nine years is too long to not have any answers and too long for killers to not be put away.

“There’s so much crime in this area and that’s why I used to extend so much grace to them. I used to extend grace by saying before they can do one thing, they have to do another and another and another. But I’m past that now,” said Chevie Green.
If anyone has any information on Jerry Brown’s murder, you’re encouraged to call JSO or Crimestoppers.
