JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville man was arrested Saturday during a crackdown on prostitution by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Police said they began the city-wide operation after receiving constant complaints from residents and business owners in the community.
During the crackdown, police say they arrested Rashad Mackey, 26, who was posing as a “John” in the area of West 6th Street and Barnett Street in Jacksonville’s Durkeeville neighborhood, according to the arrest report.

JSO said he got into a car of a JSO detective and had a sexual conversation and made an agreement. The police report did not specify the details of the agreement.
The report said he ran from the car after a takedown signal was given and was eventually found underneath a house on Francis Street.
Police said he was previously arrested five times for other prostitution-related incidents and was also charged and convicted of committing prostitution or procuring for prostitution while having a sexually transmitted disease.
It is against Florida law (796.08) for someone who knows they have a STD to commit prostitution or procure another for prostitution.
Mackey faces charges of committing prostitution or procuring for prostitution while having a STD, resisting an officer without violence and another prostitution charge following Saturday’s arrest.
