CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — Clay County government officials are reminding residents they play an important role in protecting the county’s water quality.

According to a social media post, stormwater can pick up debris, chemicals, and other pollutants. These flow into the sewer system, then into natural bodies of water.
You can help protect the quality of the water you swim in, fish from, and drink.

County officials posted the following tips to do so:
- At home
- Choose environmentally- friendly household appliances
- Maintain your septic
- In the yard
- Use hard plants
- Know plant and soil needs before using chemicals
- In the community
- Don’t dump oil or antifreeze
- Pick up after your pets
- Tune your car and check for leaks
