Deputies responded to a residence in Satsuma after a call about an unresponsive child on Jan. 23. The one-year-old’s pulse was able to be regained after resuscitative efforts by a deputy.
The kid’s father, Bruce Harris, told deputies the child had consumed an unknown substance. Harris said it could have been one of his prescribed Oxycodone pills.
The child was taken to HCA Florida Putnam Hospital and is expected to recover.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for suspected child neglect and found a plethora of drugs and weapons inside the home. Those drugs include cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, and the previously mentioned oxycodone pills. Most, if not all, the items were allegedly within reach or accessible for the child.
Thomas and Harris left the hospital to find deputies searching their home. Instead of staying, the pair drove toward Gainsville where the child was being transferred.
On Tuesday, officers received a warrant for the arrest of both Thomas and Harris. Both are charged with one count of child neglect with great bodily harm.
Harris, who is still on the run, is charged with other 5 other counts including the procession of a firearm by a convicted felon and drug trafficking.
