JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday morning in a crash that blocked Roosevelt Boulevard (U.S. Highway 17) for hours, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office sent out an alert just after 6 am, alerting drivers that all northbound lanes of the road were blocked. According to NAS Jacksonville, the crash happened near its Allegheny Gate.
According to FHP, the 19-year-old motorcyclist was riding northbound near the intersection with 120th Street when an SUV, attempting to make a left turn, entered his path. The two collided, and the man died from his injuries. The SUV driver, a 69-year-old woman, then crashed the car into a crosswalk sign. She was not injured, according to FHP.
