JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Ask any NFL player, there's nothing quite like opening day in the league. "I remember I cried for my first NFL game," said Jags receiver Cecil Shorts III.
Every team has a clean slate, including the 0-0 Jaguars who will travel to Philadelphia Saturday to take on the Eagles Sunday. "Even though I was inactive, I remember playing for the Vikings in New Orleans on Thursday night the year after we lost to the Saints in the NFC Championship game, and the fans had the who-dat cheer going on and I remember looking up and going wow, this is unbelieveable, " said Jags running back Toby Gerhart.
The Jags will be taking on NFC East favorite Philadelphia and their high powered offense led by Coach Chip Kelly and quarterback Nick Foles. "We try to be up-tempo too, " said Jags offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch.
Jags kicker Josh Scobee said he hasn't kicked a football in 12 days and is looking forward for the first time in a long time to a practice, "yeah I want to see how I can kick and see if things go OK," said Scobee who remembers his first NFL game as a Jag because "Ernest Wilford caught the game winning touchdown pass at the end of the game in Buffalo".
Tyson Alualu says playing football Sunday is the chance to show the rest of the nation what "Jaguars football is all about". Don't forget we are with the Jaguars all season long and will join you from Philadelphia Saturday night on Action Sports 360 and then Sunday on our Tailgate show at 11am on FOX30 and our countdown to kickoff program at 11:30 on FOX30 and CBS47. Of course you can watch all 16 regular season games with the Jags on CBS47 and FOX30 throughout this NFL season.
