JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — In the aftermath of the winter storm that moved through Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia, some school districts that had extended closures are beginning to announce when they will reopen.
If a school district is not listed below, it has already returned to normal operations.

Northeast Florida:
Nassau County
The Nassau County School District kept schools closed Thursday due to road conditions and announced that, “All schools and offices will reopen to normal operations on Friday, January 24.”

Southeast Georgia:
Brantley County
The Brantley County School System was closed Wednesday and Thursday due to the weather and will remain closed Friday. The district shared the following message on Thursday afternoon: “After consulting with safety officials and the county regarding the ongoing freezing temperatures and the anticipated icy road conditions, all Brantley Schools and offices will remain closed tomorrow, Friday, January 24th, 2025. Please stay safe, enjoy the snow, and we look forward to welcoming our students back on Monday, January 27th, to hear all about their snow day adventures!”
Camden County
Camden County Schools were closed Wednesday and Thursday. The school district said Thursday afternoon that “Camden County Schools will resume normal operations on Friday, January 24, 2025. We look forward to welcoming students and staff back!”
Charlton County
Charlton County Schools were closed Wednesday and Thursday. The district said Thursday afternoon, “Charlton County Schools will be open and on regular schedule on Friday, Jan. 24.”
Glynn County
Glynn County Schools were closed Wednesday and Thursday and shared the following update about classes and makeup days on Thursday afternoon: “After consulting with local emergency officials and thoroughly assessing our schools and roads for storm-related damage, Glynn County Schools will remain closed to students on Friday, Jan. 24. Staff are expected to report to their designated locations on Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Classes will resume on Monday, Jan. 27. To make up for weather days, school will now be in session on Monday, Feb. 17, and Monday, March 10, which were previously scheduled as teacher workdays. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this challenging time. Please stay safe, and we look forward to welcoming our students back on Monday!”
Pierce County
Pierce County Schools were closed Wednesday and Thursday and will remain closed Friday. Here’s the message from the district: “Due to snow still on many roads in our county and another hard freeze on the way tonight, Pierce County Schools will close tomorrow, January 24th. We will resume normal operations on Monday, January 27th. All after school activities for tomorrow will be rescheduled. Home basketball vs. Brantley Co. scheduled for tomorrow is rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 8 in Bearville. The beginning of Driver’s Ed classes has been moved to Saturday, February 1.”
Ware County
Ware County Schools were closed Wednesday and Thursday and will remain closed Friday. Here’s the message from the district: “Due to hazardous road conditions, Ware County Schools will remain closed on Friday, January 24, 2025. After conducting a thorough survey of travel conditions throughout the city and county, district leaders and transportation staff have determined that many icy patches persist. These conditions present a significant safety risk, particularly for our bus routes that begin before daylight, where icy hazards are harder to detect. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Stay safe, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, January 27, 2025.”
