Jacksonville woman pleads for help to get her cat down from 50-foot tree; cat comes down on its own

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE, 2/3/2023, 2:21 p.m.: A man named Jacob said he was going to help Marra’s cat down from the tree, but he tells Action News Jax the cat came down on its own. We have reached out to Marra as well and are waiting to hear back.

A woman on Jacksonville’s Westside is pleading for someone to help get her cat down from a tree.

Maria Marra said her young cat has been stuck about 50 feet up a tree for four days.

She’s tried calling the cat down and leaving food out, but nothing’s working.

Marra said she called the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, Animal Care and Protective Services and 630-CITY with no results.

“They all sent me back to the city and all they could say is, ‘You need to hire somebody who works on trees,’ or something like that. Okay, lovely, I can’t afford that,” Marra said.
