Restaurant Report: Action News Jax’s Ben Becker threatened by food truck worker

Action News Jax Ben Becker does what it takes to get you answers every week in the Original Restaurant Report, but this week the heat was turned up.

Becker paid a visit to Breakfast Bowls & Burritos 2 on St. Johns Bluff near Jorick Road.

State inspectors say it was operating with an expired license, wastewater was leaking and it had no paper towels. It was temporarily closed.

A worker told Becker everything was fixed.

“Ain’t nothing here have to do with the food as long as everything good with the food everything is good,” said an unidentified man.

But as Becker was leaving, he was confronted by a worker. Becker tried to keep a safe distance.

Worker: “Get the (expletive) out of here. Hey, don’t put your hands on me!”

Becker: “Don’t put your hands on me”

Worker: “You on my (expletive)! Get the (expletive) out of here!”

Becker “We’re getting out of here”

Worker: “Get out now! I ain’t playing with you boy! Get out!”

Becker: “Hey step back dude!”

Worker: “Hey don’t’ tell me to step back I’m going to get a lawsuit on your (expletive)”

Elsewhere La Nopalera Mexican Restaurant on Bartram Oaks Walk near Race Track Road was cited for raw food not separated from each other, a time/temperature safety violation and grease leaking on the ground.

Inspectors say the Chart House on River Place Boulevard and the Southbank had a time/temperature safety violation, a stained cutting board and an employee’s backpack stored on a prep table.

My final stop, Daruma Japanese Steak House on Beach Boulevard near Discovery Way was cited for three flying insects in the kitchen, time/temperature safety violations and raw food stored over ready-to-eat food.

All the restaurants passed follow up inspections.
