My lawfully wedded Valentine: St Augustine holds group wedding on Valentine’s Day

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Seven happy couples gathered for a group wedding early Tuesday afternoon in Saint Augustine, for the first-of-its-kind multi-couple nuptials at the Richard O. Watson Judicial Center.

As couples gathered to be wedded, music played in the air, with a gazebo shrouded in flowers standing tall behind the couples.

One couple, Beth Lambert and Brad Cooper, initially planned to get married in Barbados the next month. However, they saw an advertisement online about the event and decided it was a dream opportunity.

“We saw this group wedding flier and I’m like, ‘that’s the best idea.’ We’ll just go down there and get married to every other happy couple in town,” Lambert said with a smile.

“And we were tired of living in sin too,” Lambert added with a laugh.

Lambert’s now lawfully wedded husband, Cooper, says the opportunity to get married on Valentine’s Day was just too good to pass up.

“We were looking for the right day and this, we saw this in, I think it was on the internet, it was like, what a perfect idea,” exclaimed Cooper joyfully.

While this is the first year an event like it has been held at the Richard O. Watson Judicial Center in St. Augustin, the county clerk says it will be back next year.

Meanwhile, Lambert and Cooper are off to what will now be their honeymoon in Barbados next month.
