‘Moyers Warriors,’ memorial soccer game in honor of fallen Nassau Co. deputy

CALLAHAN, Fla — The Callahan Soccer Club is paying tribute to a fallen deputy, killed in the line of duty.

September 24 marks one year since Nassau County Deputy Joshua Moyers was shot and killed during a traffic stop. He died in the hospital from his injuries.

After a five-day manhunt, the man who shot and killed the deputy was captured, hiding inside a concession stand near a soccer field in Callahan.

The Callahan Soccer Club is hosting its second annual ‘Moyers Warriors’ coaches vs. coaches tournament in his honor.

It will be held on September 30 at 7:30 P.M. Gates open at 5:30 P.M.

The hope is to get a lot of community members and law enforcement out to show support for the Moyers family and the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.

“This event became a way to memorialize him [Joshua Moyers], and make sure his name is not forgotten in the community that he served for,” Ryan Kerley, Board Member for Soccer Club, said. “This game is just a way to bring the community together, and bring law enforcement together so they can feel the love.”

The event costs $5. There will be games for the kids, food and drinks.
