“There’s really not much we can do we can hope the trailers will be found,” Star Scout Malcolm Remo said.

The trailers have been parked at the Spirit of Life Lutheran Church for roughly six years, not once have they had a problem. Star Scouts Malcolm Remo and Gavin Wood said it impacts everything from merit badges to rankings.

“It included everything we needed to cook, set up camp completely,” Remo said.

“It’s a major part of scouting, without camping or go outside anywhere you can’t really do anything in scouting without that,” Wood said.

Janice Neu is the Committee Chair of Troop 286.

“We have like a kitchen, rain fly, washing station, Coleman stoves, two burner stoves, we had propane tanks, lanterns, everything we need to go camping,” Neu said. “Tons of merit badge books in there that are not cheap.”

A police report said thieves used some sort of vehicle to remove the trailers and they’ve yet to be found.

“Oh, it’s just very disappointing, it really is,” Neu said.

The trailers aren’t hard to miss as one of them has their name on it and Neu said they saw the smaller trailer on Facebook Marketplace, but it’s since been removed.

Neu said her son was crushed by what happened.

“He broke my heart when he said, ‘Mom do you know how many memories are in trailer?’,” Neu said.

For the Star Scouts, being involved means everything.

“It’s become a key part of my life,” Remo said.

“I felt like I needed something to get better and ready for the future,” Wood said.
