Fatal motorcycle crash reported on Argyle Forest Blvd

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATED 2:38 p.m.- The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported a deadly crash at 7700 Argyle Forest Blvd., and it has closed down the eastbound lanes of the road.

Just before 11 a.m. Sunday, a sports bike motorcycle was headed eastbound on Argyle Forest Blvd. At the same time, a Chevrolet SUV was traveling westbound and attempted to turn into the Popeyes and Dollar General shared parking lot.

The two vehicles collided, and the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV is cooperating with the police.

JSO reports that the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, but witnesses and neighbors say he was driving way over the speed limit prior to the crash.

Action News Jax covered another deadly crash at the same intersection last month.

JSO says this marks the 70th traffic fatality this year, and it is the 19th fatality involving motorcycles.

Officers are still at the scene diverting traffic to northbound Westport Rd.

Drivers are advised to use caution in the area and expect delays.
