Construction underway for Elevation Pointe in St. Johns County, Publix to anchor site

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — More growth is on the way for one of the fastest-growing counties in the U.S. and in Florida.

A development in St. Johns County called Elevation Pointe will feature 320 apartments, 420 townhomes, two hotels -- as well as retail and office spaces.

It’s being built across from the St. Augustine Premium Outlets.

Publix will anchor the site.

Action News Jax spoke with Scott Giles, the senior broker for Atlantic Retail – Orlando.

“I think it just furthers the growth that’s happening in this portion of St. Johns County,” Giles said. “It really is going to anchor this intersection west of I-95. It’s going to really bring some positive energy to what’s already there with the outlet malls.”

County Road 208 will be re-routed through Elevation Pointe to the new traffic signal at State Road 16, giving the site full access. That process has begun.

“I think it’s going to be a great project for the community and will provide some valuable services, restaurants and businesses,” Giles said.

The site has connectivity to I-95.

Action News Jax spoke with local businesses with a direct view of the project’s progression.

Jessica Sanders works at Edible Arrangements in St. Augustine.

“I’m definitely gonna go over there for a few lunch breaks, and we’ll definitely be actively going to that Publix to get fruit and stuff like that,” Sanders said. So, it’ll definitely be pretty useful to us.”

Jonathan Poblacion with Epic Fadez Barbershop also works directly across from where the ground has broken.

“This area is growing pretty fast and with that Publix there it shows a little bit more like quality in the area,” Poblacion said.

Publix is slated to open in 2024.

The project will feature up to 190,000 square feet of commercial use and 240 hotel rooms upon completion.

There are still several outparcels available for lease, with an emphasis on retail restaurants and medical spaces.
