Lee Tang, 65, of Keystone Heights claimed the prize as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $820,000.

Tang purchased his winning ticket from Lee’s Discount Beverage at 7387 State Rd. 21 N. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

The $50 game, 500X THE CASH, features a top prize of $25 million -- the largest offered on a Florida Scratch-OFf game -- and the best offs to become an instant millionaire. The game’s overall odds of winning are 1-in-4.50.

The names have typically been provided once the prizes are claimed as a way to prove people are actually winning. Recipients also can waive the 90-day exemption, much like Florida’s Marsy’s Law for not naming victims of crime.

Part of that has to do with a new state law passed in 2022 that protects the identities of winners for up to 90 days. It was proposed by Rep. Tracie Davis, D-Jacksonville, to shield against potential thieves or unscrupulous people hoping to gain from a winner’s sudden wealth.
